How do I get a Library Card?

** Due to contact free service during Covid-19, we are issuing library cards only online. Apply online and make sure to include a mailing address, phone number and email address. Please be advised that processing times may vary due to limited staffing **

A Pacific Grove Public Library card opens the door to a world of information and entertainment. In addition to borrowing materials, your card allows you to download digital media, use electronic databases, get access to local museums, and more. Pacific Grove Public Library Cards are always free to adults, children, and visitors who don’t have a CA ID. Residents who have a disability or long-term medical condition that prevents you from visiting the Library may use Outreach Services. Please call (831)648-5760 or email referencedesk@cityofpacificgrove.org for more information. You may check out items using either your library card or a valid ID.

After applying online, you will receive an email providing you a temporary password, allowing you to reserve items and your library card will be mailed to the address provided. An email will be automatically sent when your items are ready for pick up (see library hours). Please note that emails are sent third party (bywatersolutions), rather than direct from PGPL. This is in part to ensure your privacy and security. Please know that your account is data protected, and while we can assist you in changing your password, they are encrypted and not visible to us.
