How do I get a Library Card?

Residents of California may receive a free library card. A Pacific Grove Public Library card opens the door to a world of information and entertainment. In addition to borrowing materials, your card allows you to download digital media, use electronic databases, get access to local museums, and more. You may apply for a card online or in the library.

** Due to Library closure we are issuing library cards online. Apply online and make sure to include a mailing address, phone number and email address and someone will contact you the next business day. Processing times may be longer due to limited staffing.**

Apply online and then present a valid photo ID in-person to receive a library card. The Library does not issue library cards online; you must visit in-person.

  • People ages 14-18 can show valid ID or have a parent / guardian sign.
  • A parent / guardian must sign for anyone under age 14.
  • Residents who have a disability or long-term medical condition that prevents you from visiting the Library may use Outreach Services. Please call (831)648-5760 or email referencedesk@cityofpacificgrove.org for more information.
  • PGPL also offers visitor cards for those who don't have a CA ID.
